About The Position

This is a part-time, exempt position for a Cheerleading Coach at the High School level for the SY26/27 school year. The coach will report to the Athletic Director, principal, and local superintendent. The role involves medium work activity classification and requires a one-year contract. The coach is responsible for establishing and enforcing squad rules, supervising athletes, preparing schedules and budgets, managing equipment, and ensuring compliance with the Athletic Handbook. Additionally, the coach must serve as a role model for students, instilling ethical principles and democratic values, and conduct other assigned coaching duties.

Responsibilities

  • Attend Athletic Boosters Club meetings
  • Attend Athletic Council meetings
  • Attend Rules interpretation meetings
  • Attend Clinics in your sport area
  • Establish squad rules concerning attendance, practice and behavior and enforce them
  • Ensure each athlete and parent/guardian receives a copy of squad rules prior to the beginning of practice
  • Ensure proper attire is worn during practice and games
  • Supervise all squad members before, during and after practices and games
  • Handle the selection of special awards and attend presentation of these awards
  • Prepare and communicate practice and competition schedules to players and athletic director
  • Prepare budget and purchase proposal for uniforms and appropriate supplies
  • Submit complete squad roster to the athletic director
  • Cooperate with administration and coaches in planning pep rallies and other activities
  • Be responsible for distribution, collection, care and proper storage of equipment, uniforms, pom-pom, etc.
  • Be responsible for the information in the Athletic Handbook and ensure all assistants are aware of this material
  • Carry required emergency forms for all squad members to all practices and games
  • Be responsible for physical cards, emergency medical authorization forms and code of conduct for all squad members
  • Conduct yourself on the field at all times in such a manner that you will not insult players, officials or spectators
  • Be responsible for the conduct of your squad members
  • Teach by example
  • Encourage positive fan involvement
  • Inform all participants of the safety precautions associated with their sport or activity and teach proper skills to reduce chance of injury
  • Check all equipment routinely for safety concerns
  • Be responsible for reporting and care of all injuries
  • Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
  • Help instill in students the belief in and practice of ethical principles and democratic values
  • Conduct other coaching duties as assigned by the athletic director or principal as permitted by the negotiated agreement
