About The Position

The High School Cheerleading Coach is responsible for directing, supervising, and leading the cheerleading program, including practices, performances, and competitions. The coach will instill discipline, teamwork, and sportsmanship while promoting school spirit and supporting athletic programs.

Requirements

Current teaching position in Western Heights Public Schools
Bachelor’s Degree in Education (Minimum)
State Licensure or Certification

Following safety guidelines and policies are critical to the safety of the teacher, other staff and students.
Adherence to district dress standards, proper attendance/leave policies, and other work habits are important to maintaining discipline and respect in an environment conducive to learning.
Creativity, initiative and effective problem solving are important to delivering instruction in accordance with the Oklahoma Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Model and other state and district standards.
Employee must possess manual dexterity sufficient to write on a chalkboard.
Employee must possess enough visual ability to supervise students in the classroom, hallways and large areas such as auditoriums and cafeterias.
Employee must possess hearing ability to supervise students and to interact with students individually and in group settings.
Employee must possess speaking requirement enough to deliver instruction throughout the work day in the classroom and supervise students throughout the school building.
Employee must have mobility enough to interact with students during instructional delivery and supervise students throughout the day.
Employee must have mental requirement to deliver instruction in accordance with state and district standards such as Oklahoma Academic Skills and the Oklahoma Teacher and Leader Effectiveness Model.

Responsibilities

Organize and conduct tryouts, practices, and cheerleading events.
Develop and implement a comprehensive cheerleading program that includes skill development, choreography, conditioning, and safety.
Supervise student-athletes during all practices, games, competitions, and events.
Promote team unity, positive attitudes, and appropriate behavior among squad members.
Ensure all cheer activities comply with school, district, and state athletic association policies.
Maintain clear and open communication with athletes, parents, administrators, and staff.
Manage cheerleading uniforms, equipment, and finances responsibly.
Coordinate transportation, schedules, and supervision for away games and competitions.
Attend and participate in school pep rallies, assemblies, and community events as appropriate.
Support academic achievement and eligibility of student-athletes.
