Cheer Instructor/Coach - After-School Programs
About The Position
Brains and Motion Education (BAM!) is seeking a passionate Cheer Instructor to lead engaging, high-energy after-school cheer programs. BAM! focuses on unleashing student potential through innovative STEM, Arts, and Sports enrichment programs in local schools and communities. The goal is to equip kids with the tools to thrive through quality enrichment programs, sports programs, or guided recess, making learning fun and memorable. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys mentoring youth, thrives in a dynamic environment, and wants to share the joy of cheerleading in a fun and supportive setting.
Requirements
- 1-2 years of cheerleading experience as an instructor, coach, or team member (high school, college, or competitive-level experience preferred).
- At least two years of college coursework (48 semester units), an associate degree or higher, or proof of certification through a local assessment that meets the requirements of the "Every Student Succeed Act."
- A genuine enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring (coaching/teaching experience is preferred).
- Excellent class management skills and the ability to work effectively with students in grades K-8.
- Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license or State ID.
- Ability to pass a background check.
- Willingness to undergo additional training as required.
- Ability to lift and carry approximately 20-50 lbs. occasionally, with or without accommodations.
Responsibilities
- Lead cheerleading fundamentals, including basic stunts, tumbling, jumps, chants, and dance routines, tailored to the age and skill level of students (grades K-8).
- Foster teamwork, sportsmanship, and confidence through positive reinforcement and team-building activities.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and inclusive environment where every student feels supported and valued.
- Deliver a fun and professional experience by implementing BAM!'s cheer program curriculum and maintaining high standards for instruction and care.
- Represent BAM! by implementing the cheer program curriculum.
