The CHE Operator reports directly to the Operation Supervisor and is responsible for operating container handling equipment in depot yard operation, in order to deliver a safe, efficient and effective operation.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent
You must be willing to work outdoors and in all weather conditions
All candidates must possess a valid state driver’s license - CDL preferred
Experienced Forklift / Side Loader Operator
Experienced Hostler Operator
Valid Large Forklift Operator Certification
Good Communication
Team player attitude

Responsibilities

Use heavy equipment to safely unload and strategically move intermodal containers within the yard.
Stack and unstack intermodal containers and chassis following the established yard plan.
Transfer containers and chassis from and to various locations in the yard by use of yard trucks.
Record every container handling within the operational system, keeping the operational system updated.
Perform a safety checklist before and after operating any heavy equipment to ensure that any defects are reported immediately.
Work with the gate staff in handling drivers dropping off and picking up equipment.
Support the EMR shop for the repair of chassis and containers.
Couple and disengage generating units into refrigerated containers.
Maintain continuous operation, acting preventively and reporting any obstacles that may impair performance.
Equipment driving with focus on M&R prevention.
Maintains a positive relationship while working closely with the staff to build a strong team through coaching, goal setting, and constructive feedback.
