The CHE Operator reports directly to the Operation Supervisor and is responsible for operating container handling equipment in depot yard operation, in order to deliver a safe, efficient and effective operation.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent
  • You must be willing to work outdoors and in all weather conditions
  • All candidates must possess a valid state driver’s license - CDL preferred
  • Experienced Forklift / Side Loader Operator
  • Experienced Hostler Operator
  • Valid Large Forklift Operator Certification
  • Good Communication
  • Team player attitude

Responsibilities

  • Use heavy equipment to safely unload and strategically move intermodal containers within the yard.
  • Stack and unstack intermodal containers and chassis following the established yard plan.
  • Transfer containers and chassis from and to various locations in the yard by use of yard trucks.
  • Record every container handling within the operational system, keeping the operational system updated.
  • Perform a safety checklist before and after operating any heavy equipment to ensure that any defects are reported immediately.
  • Work with the gate staff in handling drivers dropping off and picking up equipment.
  • Support the EMR shop for the repair of chassis and containers.
  • Couple and disengage generating units into refrigerated containers.
  • Maintain continuous operation, acting preventively and reporting any obstacles that may impair performance.
  • Equipment driving with focus on M&R prevention.
  • Maintains a positive relationship while working closely with the staff to build a strong team through coaching, goal setting, and constructive feedback.
