About The Position

Chassis ManagerHyundai Motor Group North America Quality Center (NAQC) is currently looking for a Chassis Manager for its Investigation Team 1 in Irvine, CA. The Team: NAQC is the quality arm for Hyundai Motor Group (HMG) in North America, focused on delivering industry-leading vehicle quality and exceeding customer expectations. The NAQC Investigation Team identifies quality issues in the North American market and drives effective corrective actions to reduce field problems. Our mission is to support HMG’s goal of becoming the top automotive manufacturer through uncompromising quality and continuous improvement. The Position: The Chassis Manager will be a part of an investigation team to conduct various types of field investigations to collect duplication data and analyze the data to identify the root cause and share findings through technical investigation report. The candidate should have strong knowledge of automotive chassis systems and solid troubleshooting skills. The individual will be required to collaborate with the various stakeholders (i.e. HMG Quality Team, HMG R&D, suppliers, North American affiliates) to plan / execute joint activities to achieve a common goal.

Requirements

  • Have bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Automotive Engineering, or a related field.
  • Have 10+ years of experience in the area of QA/QC, Quality Improvement, or Vehicle Quality Investigation & Root Cause Analysis.
  • Familiarity with vehicle instrumentation and data acquisition tools (e.g., NVH/CAN/thermal loggers, oscilloscope, various gauges, etc.), service manuals, shop equipment, and chassis-related test equipment
  • Be proficient in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills.
  • Travel up to 20% of time (domestic & international).
  • Be willing to support initiatives that may fall outside the day-to-day activities listed above.
  • Valid Driver's License and satisfactory driving record.

  • Previous team management experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the NAQC Chassis Group to improve overall quality, enhance customer perception, and ensure stable deployment of new vehicles.
  • Monitor quality trends and lead chassis-related quality projects, including pre/post-launch evaluations and supplier/service quality improvements, to reduce warranty costs.
  • Collaborate with North American affiliates to review field issues, develop containment plans, and support HMG investigations by coordinating affiliate involvement and sharing findings.
  • Maintain effective communication among N.A. affiliates, Korean counterparts, and suppliers.
  • Set group goals aligned with corporate direction and manage strategies, operational plans, staffing, and budgets; mentor direct reports.
  • Plan and execute initiatives to strengthen engineering capability within the team.
  • Prepare weekly plans, activity reports, and executive summaries to track performance and progress.
  • Review external safety and product feedback databases to identify potential quality concerns.
  • Report quality issues with accurate test conditions and duplication details for proper countermeasure development.
  • Perform administrative tasks such as purchase orders, vacation requests, travel requests, and performance evaluations.
  • Candidate should have broad vehicle system knowledge with strong expertise in chassis systems.
  • Provide performance updates, key challenges, and proposed solutions to the CHAS/TRIM Sr. Manager.
