About The Position

Join Flair's Commercial team as a Charter Operations Specialist, where commercial acumen, relationship management, and operational coordination come together to support the growth of our charter business. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Opportunities, you will be responsible for the development, sale, coordination, and execution of charter operations from initial customer engagement through post-operation reconciliation. In this role, you will identify business opportunities, manage client relationships, prepare charter agreements, and work closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure charter operations are delivered safely, efficiently, and in compliance with contractual, regulatory, and operational requirements. The position requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, time-sensitive environment. Occasional travel and flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays may be required based on operational needs. This position is based on-site at any of our offices in Edmonton, AB (YEG), or Toronto, ON (YYZ).

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Aviation Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related discipline. Equivalent combination of education and progressive airline operational experience will be considered.
  • Minimum of five (5) to seven (7) years of progressive experience within a CARs 705 airline environment, with direct exposure to operational control, network coordination, or integrated operations planning.
  • Demonstrated end-to-end experience supporting or executing charter operations, including feasibility assessment, resource coordination, day-of operational oversight, and post-operation review.
  • Proven experience managing operational decision-making during irregular operations, balancing regulatory compliance, customer commitments, aircraft utilization, and cost control.
  • Experience working directly with Commercial, Sales, or Strategic Opportunities teams to validate operational feasibility of contracted flying.
  • Strong understanding of fleet planning constraints, crew legality considerations, airport slot requirements, permit coordination, and international operational approvals.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing operational cost components and understanding margin sensitivity related to fuel, crew, positioning flights, ground handling, and catering.
  • Experience preparing structured operational briefings, post-flight summaries, and financial impact reviews for internal stakeholders.
  • Working knowledge of Canadian Aviation Regulations and operational requirements applicable to charter and non-scheduled operations
  • Strong operational decision-making capability, with the ability to assess feasibility, risk, and impact in time-sensitive environments.
  • Advanced understanding of airline operational dependencies, including crew legality, fleet allocation, airport constraints, slot coordination, and international approvals.
  • Ability to balance commercial objectives with operational integrity and regulatory compliance.
  • Financial awareness, including the ability to interpret charter cost structures and identify margin exposure risks.
  • Structured problem-solving skills with the ability to lead cross-functional resolution during irregular operations.
  • Clear, concise, and confident communication skills when coordinating across Commercial, SOCC, Airports, Finance, and external clients.
  • High attention to detail with strong organizational discipline in documentation, reporting, and reconciliation activities.
  • Proficiency in airline operational systems and planning tools, with advanced working knowledge of Excel and Smartsheet.
  • Ability to operate independently, exercise sound judgment, and maintain composure in high-pressure operational environments
  • Clear criminal record check and satisfactory references.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada without restriction.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and pursue new charter business opportunities to support revenue growth and increase market share.
  • Develop and manage relationships with corporate clients, travel agencies, brokers, sports teams, government agencies, tour operators, and VIP customers.
  • Respond promptly to charter inquiries and requests for quotations.
  • Prepare and negotiate charter proposals, contracts, and pricing agreements.
  • Maintain a list of prospective clients and support customer retention initiatives.
  • Act as the internal owner of all charter movements, ensuring contractual commitments are translated into executable operational plans.
  • Coordinate with Commercial to validate aircraft availability, routing feasibility, timing, crew legality, and operational constraints prior to charter confirmation.
  • Ensure all pre-charter planning activities are completed, including regulatory reviews, slot coordination, permits, catering, ground handling, fuel arrangements, and any customer-specific requirements.
  • Confirm that charter commitments align with fleet availability, maintenance planning, and network priorities.
  • Maintain visibility of charter revenue, projected operating costs, and contribution margin, escalating risks to profitability where applicable.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for day-of charter operations, ensuring safe and compliant execution in coordination with SOCC and operational stakeholders.
  • Monitor charter performance in real time, proactively identifying risks, disruptions, or operational constraints.
  • Lead cross-functional resolution efforts during irregular operations to protect customer commitments while minimizing operational and financial impact.
  • Liaise with Airports, Crew Scheduling, Maintenance, and ground service providers to ensure seamless execution of all charter movements.
  • Ensure charter flights comply with regulatory requirements, company policies, and operational standards.
  • Maintain professional and responsive communication with charter clients, brokers, and internal stakeholders throughout the charter lifecycle.
  • Manage irregular operations and resolve service issues efficiently while maintaining customer confidence and operational integrity.
  • Manage client expectations during disruptions, providing clear operational updates and recovery options where required.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with operational teams to ensure charter execution standards remain consistent and efficient.
  • Oversee post-charter reconciliation activities, ensuring all direct and indirect costs are captured accurately.
  • Support review of charter profitability, identifying operational inefficiencies or cost drivers impacting margin.
  • Prepare post-operation summaries outlining performance, disruptions, customer feedback, and financial outcomes.
  • Identify process improvement opportunities to enhance charter execution, cost control, and operational reliability.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
