A chargeback analyst is responsible for investigating and resolving credit card disputes and retrieval. This role requires detailed transaction research, analytical skills, sound decision-making, and documentation of actions taken, including phone calls to merchants, ISOs, and others as appropriate. The analyst must apply card association industry regulations and practices in resolving disputes, work to recover funds for chargebacks, implement measures to minimize loss, and educate merchants to prevent future disputes.

Requirements

  • HS/GED and 0 years of experience
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Able to handle stressful phone calls
  • Must possess a high level of integrity and can be trusted to maintain confidentiality.
  • Works well as a member of a team.

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year in administrative work or call center customer service

Responsibilities

  • Begins to develop an intermediate knowledge pertaining to card brands (i.e. Visa/MasterCard/Discover) governing chargebacks, retrieval processes and procedures.
  • Maintain knowledge of all card brands regulations and the ability to utilize and understand the card brands regulations rule manuals.
  • Work chargeback cases from start to finish, which includes merchant notification of the chargeback, gathering the required information for the dispute reason code, reviewing documentation to make a sound educated decision, and representing the case to the card brand.
  • Communicating the outcome of the case back to the merchant/sales office when necessary.
  • Work retrieval cases from start to finish, which includes merchant notification, reviewing merchant responses, reaching out to the merchant if additional information is needed, and making sound decisions on fulfilling the request to the card brand.
