About The Position

The Charge Nurse will communicate and collaborate with all members of the health care team, support and actively participate in shared governance/councils, be committed to developing their individual knowledge and skills, as well as advancing the profession of nursing and engaging in lifelong learning/development. The Charge Nurse evaluates the effectiveness of interventions and directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed. Individuals in this role will demonstrate a high degree of confidentiality, positive interpersonal skills, and ability to function in a fast-paced environment. They will maintain a positive, customer-focused attitude toward patients, possess a strong work ethic and always display a high level of professionalism, and have basic computer skills using medical management application systems. The work location is Texas Health Fort Worth, 1304 Pennsylvania Ave, Fort Worth, TX 76104. Justin 5 is a 35-bed Surgical Trauma Progressive Care Unit (PCU) and Burn Unit. On August 10, the unit will open with 18 surgical trauma PCU beds and 9 burn beds, with plans to expand to the full 35 beds later in the year. This unit provides higher-acuity surgical trauma and burn care, including treatment in a dedicated hydrotherapy procedure room for the burn population. Although patient populations differ, this is one integrated unit, and staff are expected to work across both care areas. This is a MAGNET facility and a Level I Trauma Center.

Requirements

  • Nursing Diploma or Associate Degree in Nursing required
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly
  • ACLS – within 90 days of hire required
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire
  • 1-year experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting required
  • Basic computer skills using medical management application systems

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred
  • TNCC or ATCN - within 12 months of hire preferred
  • 2-year experience as a registered nurse in an acute care setting preferred
  • PCU experience preferred
  • Burn unit experience a plus
