About The Position

The Charge (RN) Registered Nurse Ortho Department at Texas Health Southwest Texas Health Clearfork is a PRN Days position. This role involves self-scheduling, opportunities for educational and career growth, and participation in a robust Unit Based Council (UBC) and engaged leadership team. The Orthopedic Joint Replacement Department focuses on patient care for elective surgeries including ortho fractures, hips and knee replacements, and spines, and is known for its positive culture, teamwork, and high satisfaction scores.

Requirements

  • Associate degree from an accredited Nursing program.
  • Current RN licensure or compact licensure recognized by the Texas Board of Nursing upon hire required.
  • BCLS – prior to providing independent patient care and maintained quarterly required.
  • CPI – Crisis Prevention Intervention Training – within 90 days of hire.
  • 1-year experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting required.

Nice To Haves

  • BSN preferred.
  • ACLs within 90 days required.
  • 2-years experience as a clinical nurse in an acute care setting preferred.
  • ONC- Orthopedic Nurse Certified within 2 years preferred.

  • Evaluates the effectiveness of interventions.
  • Directly assists leadership on a particular unit or units and shift, by offering staff guidance and support, maintaining a clean and safe work environment and ensuring unit operational tasks are completed.
