About The Position

The Observation Unit is a 29-bed unit affiliated with the Emergency Department and observes patients who are expected to be in the hospital less than 24 hours. Nurses in this unit care for a variety of patients including chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, heart catheterizations, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, UTIs, and DVTs. The unit is staffed with a provider between the hours of 7 AM and 5 PM each day of the week to provide support and high-level care. New Graduate RNs welcome.

Requirements

Graduate of an approved nursing program, holding a minimum of an ASN.
Current Indiana or compact state RN license.
BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
ACLS for Healthcare provider required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
One year of nursing experience required.
Professional/Specialty certification required as per unit/department standards.

Nice To Haves

One year of experience in area of specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

Acting as a resource nurse for the department.
Coordination of care on designated shifts.
Providing leadership to the staff members of the unit in the area of patient care.
Determining needed staffing fluctuations during shifts.
Responding to departmental concerns.
Addressing immediate staff issues.
Coordinating patient flow.
Providing direct patient care.
