About The Position

The Charge RN Observation is a full-time, night shift position (7pm-7am, 36 hours weekly) in the Emergency Department Observation Unit at Baptist Health Floyd. This is an entry-level leadership role responsible for coordinating care, providing leadership to staff, and delivering direct patient care. The Charge RN will determine staffing needs, respond to departmental concerns, address staff issues, and coordinate patient flow. The Observation Unit is a 29-bed unit affiliated with the Emergency Department, observing patients expected to be hospitalized for less than 24 hours. Nurses on this unit care for a variety of patients including those with chest pain, cardiac arrhythmias, heart catheterizations, laparoscopic cholecystectomies, UTIs, and DVTs. The unit is staffed with a provider daily from 7 AM to 5 PM. New Graduate RNs are welcome.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an approved nursing program, holding a minimum of an ASN.
  • Current Indiana or compact state RN license.
  • BLS for Healthcare Provider required.
  • ACLS for Healthcare provider required (obtained within 12 months of hire).
  • One year of nursing experience required.
  • Professional/Specialty certification required as per unit/department standards.

Nice To Haves

  • One year of experience in area of specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as a resource nurse for the department.
  • Coordination of care on designated shifts.
  • Providing leadership to staff members in the area of patient care.
