About The Position

Regions Hospital is hiring a Charge Registered Nurse for its Mental Health unit. The unit has 20 private rooms with bathrooms, including some handicapped-accessible rooms, separate dining and day-room spaces, a spacious group room, a comfort room, open areas for visiting and relaxing, a large activity room, and a secured outdoor space.

The unit cares for patients aged 18 and older experiencing acute mental illness of moderate to severe acuity. It also treats patients receiving inpatient electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) and patients with medical or surgical conditions requiring treatment and intervention. Regions Hospital is the largest provider of inpatient mental health services in the east metro and treats adult mental illnesses at a state-of-the-art facility, providing comprehensive, personalized care. The hospital is committed to reducing the stigma surrounding mental illness.

The schedule is 0.70 FTE on nights, with all shifts lasting eight hours and an every-other-weekend rotation.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, or an Associate Degree in Nursing and one year of RN experience.
• Internal new graduate applicants may meet the minimum requirements with an Associate Degree in Nursing.
• Licensed as a registered nurse by the State of Minnesota.
• CPR for the professional rescuer or BLS for healthcare providers.
• Exceptional interpersonal skills and a strong ability to work with patients from varied cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

• BSN or MSN strongly preferred; generally expected to be obtained within five years of hire.
• Two years of experience in the area of specialty preferred at 0.8 FTE or above (minimum of 3,328 hours).
• Mental health experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide care to adult patients experiencing acute mental illness of moderate to severe acuity.
• Care for patients undergoing inpatient electroconvulsive therapy (ECT).
• Provide care and intervention for patients with medical or surgical conditions.
