About The Position

The Charge Registered Nurse provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department using the nursing process and applicable standards of practice. The role supervises nursing and support staff during assigned shifts and helps ensure safe, high-quality care. The Emergency Department is a 32-bed unit caring for patients across the lifespan, with 12-hour shifts, self-scheduling, and an every-other-weekend rotation. The team describes its environment as supportive, stable, and collaborative, with opportunities to gain diverse clinical experience.

Requirements

Current active North Carolina RN license (single-state) or compact license; relocating nurses must update licensure to their new Primary State of Residence before employment begins.
Basic Life Support certification required within 30 days of hire.
ACLS and PALS certifications required within six months of hire.
Three or more years of RN Emergency Department experience.

Nice To Haves

Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required.
Charge Nurse experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Provide direct patient care using the nursing process in accordance with applicable scope and standards of practice.
Supervise nursing and support staff during assigned shifts and ensure safe, quality care.
Perform accurate patient assessments and identify patient needs.
Identify and initiate appropriate nursing interventions.
Provide care appropriate to each patient’s condition and age.
Complete timely and appropriate medical-necessity documentation in the medical record.
Complete and revise the Interdisciplinary Care Plan for each patient.
Perform timely and accurate quality-improvement assessments.
