About The Position

Northeastern Nevada Regional Hospital, part of Lifepoint Health, is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Med/Surg Charge Nurse role. The Medical/Surgical Department emphasizes teamwork and effective communication and provides clinical care to patients ranging from neonatal to geriatric. The Charge Nurse provides direction and supervision for patient care and nursing personnel, supports compliance with clinical policies and procedures, and helps ensure staffing meets patient-care needs. The position may serve as the administrative representative when the Program Director is absent.

Requirements

• Current Nevada RN license; compact license is not applicable in Nevada.
• Associate’s degree from an accredited nursing school is required.
• BCLS certification upon completion of hospital orientation.
• ACLS and PALS certifications within six months of hire or transfer to the position.
• Critical thinking skills, decisive judgment, and ability to work with minimal supervision.
• Ability to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Nice To Haves

• One year of previous experience is preferred.
• BSN is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Accurately perform patient assessments and identify patient needs.
• Provide overall direction and supervision of patient care and nursing personnel on the unit.
• Consult with staff, physicians, and the Program Director regarding nursing practices and hospital policies.
• Ensure nursing staff comply with clinical policies and procedures.
• Participate in incident investigations and prepare related reports.
• Ensure appropriate staffing levels to meet patient-care needs.
• Implement and uphold Standards of Nursing Practice across all functions.
• Serve as the administrative representative in the absence of the Program Director.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
