About The Position

Responsible for the day-to-day smooth running of the facility; including but not limited to coordinating breaks/lunches, daily log checks, schedules, and enforcing policies. Assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards. Participates in direct patient care and maintains a clean, orderly and safe environment.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program
  • Valid Kentucky Registered Nurse (RN) License
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • At least 1 year of Charge Nurse/management experience
  • Previous Nursing experience in at least one of the following settings: Operating Room (OR), ASC, Pre-Op/Post-Op, Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
  • Experience with infection control
  • Favorable result on Background Check
  • Knowledge of NextGen Database software and Microsoft Word
  • Knowledge of patient monitoring and emergency equipment
  • Ability to walk, stand and sit for prolonged periods of time
  • Ability to occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally push up to an excess of 200 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally pull/ lift patients with the assistance of other personnel and or assistive devices, up to an excess of 400-500 pounds
  • Ability to occasionally bend, stoop, kneel and climb
  • Ability to provide proof of identity and right to work in the United States

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing
  • Adult Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Experience managing a team of at least 20 direct reports
  • Experience in an Operating Room, Ambulatory Surgery Center (ASC) and/or hospital setting for Charge Nurse/management experience

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate breaks/lunches, daily log checks, schedules, and enforce policies.
  • Assess, plan, implement, evaluate and document nursing care of patients in accordance with established Federal, State and accreditation standards.
  • Participate in direct patient care and maintain a clean, orderly and safe environment.
  • Supervise and direct patient care in an individual operating room.
  • Ensure that proper techniques and practices are used in accordance to accepted standards of practice.
  • Immediately report and document unusual occurrences.
  • Demonstrate primary nursing accountability through coordination, communication and continuity of patient care.
  • Assess, prioritize, plan and implement patient care in an effective manner.
  • Maintain effective communication with patients, families, Physicians, and other staff.
  • Work within a team and balance team and individual responsibilities.
  • Recognize each department’s significance and work appropriately with other departments.
  • Comply with HIPAA regulations and be knowledgeable of patient rights.
  • Perform duties in an ethical and legal manner within the scope of their license.
  • Maintain medical records in an accurate and legible manner.
  • Comply with reporting adverse incidents.
  • Adhere to work schedule, be organized, manage time effectively and in a cost effective manner.
  • Respond to emergent situations.
  • Participate in continuing education/in-service training as needed, staff meetings, and the QAPI/Infection Control programs.
  • Work independently and within a group.
  • Follow physician orders and directions from management.
  • Actively participate in the development of a healthy work environment.
  • Assist in training new staff when needed.
  • Maintain and renew professional license in a timely manner.
