About The Position
The Thomson-Hood Veterans Center is seeking a dedicated and experienced Nurse Supervisor to coordinate the Minimum Data Set (MDS) program and oversee nursing staff within our long-term care facility. This position plays a key role in ensuring high-quality care for our veteran residents while maintaining compliance with Medicare, Medicaid, and CMS regulations. Requirements
- Must have two years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
- Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.

- A bachelor's degree in nursing will substitute for one year of the required experience.
Responsibilities
- Supervise nursing staff involved in the MDS process and coordinate staff schedules to ensure program coverage.
- Serve as a preceptor for newly hired staff and provide ongoing education and training related to MDS and skilled care documentation.
- Track Medicare beneficiary benefit periods and validate eligibility for Medicare Part A skilled services.
- Collaborate with the interdisciplinary team to determine skilled medical necessity for residents.
- Review and audit MDS assessments, resident care plans, and clinical documentation for accuracy and compliance.
- Provide training and guidance to nursing staff regarding documentation standards and skilled care requirements.
- Coordinate with finance staff to ensure billing accuracy and alignment with diagnoses and medical documentation.
- Communicate with CMS and managed care organizations to support authorization and continuation of benefits.
- Maintain the Prospective Payment System (PPS) schedule for residents utilizing Medicare benefits.
- Assist with floor nursing coverage when needed, including medication administration, treatments, and emergency response.
