Charge Nurse - Central Region
About The Position
This Charge/Float Registered Nurse position primarily provides staffing coverage based on operational needs at facilities throughout the Central Region, including Anson, CCT, Randolph, Sandy Ridge, Orange, Dan River, Caswell, North Piedmont CRV, and other facilities as needed. The nurse provides professional nursing care, treatment, observation, and counsel to incarcerated individuals in accordance with standard nursing practice and theory, agency regulations, physicians’ orders, and instructions from higher-level nursing staff. The position’s clinical work spans assessment and intervention to maintain function and promote well-being. Duties include sick-call assessment, assisting physicians, carrying out orders, planning and evaluating nursing care, responding to emergencies, facilitating mental and dental health care, preparing and administering medications, monitoring communicable diseases, conducting Chronic Disease Clinics, updating physical examinations, teaching, and delegating to or supervising personnel implementing treatment regimens. The position may supervise subordinate staff.
Requirements
- Licensed to practice as a Registered Nurse in the State of North Carolina.
- One year of nursing experience.
Responsibilities
- Provide professional nursing care, treatment, observation, and counsel to incarcerated individuals.
- Assess patients during sick calls and provide clinical interventions to maintain function and promote well-being.
- Assist physicians and carry out physicians’ orders.
- Plan, implement, and evaluate nursing care.
- Respond to emergencies.
- Facilitate mental and dental health care.
- Prepare and administer medications.
- Monitor for communicable diseases.
- Conduct Chronic Disease Clinics and update physical examinations.
- Teach patients and delegate to or supervise personnel implementing treatment regimens.
- Provide staffing coverage at Central Region facilities based on need.
- May supervise subordinate staff.
