Charge Nurse - Neuro Step Down
About The Position
The Neuro Step Down Unit is hiring a charge nurse (RN) to join their dedicated team of high-performing nurses that provide exceptional patient care within their 29-bed unit. The Charge RN will work under the direction of the Nursing Director and collaborate with the Department RN Manager and RN Assistant Manager as part of the management/leadership team to provide clinical and operational shift supervision of care processes. This includes patient flow, exceptional care experiences, quality processes, patient safety, and direction of unit staff in designated service areas. The role may also involve providing direct patient care. This unit specializes in neurology Step-Down care, focusing on patients recovering from neurosurgery or neurological injuries, including psychiatric patients. It is a Joint Commission-Accredited Primary Step-Down unit.
Requirements
- Minimum one year of nursing experience required.
- Associate Degree in Nursing minimum from an accredited academic nursing program.
- State of New Mexico or Compact State Nursing License.
- BLS certification REQUIRED at time of hire.
- ACLS certification (required for CDS Inpatient Progressive and Critical Care Units, Emergency Departments, Pre-op / Operating Room / PACU).
Nice To Haves
- Specialty Certifications in area of practice preferred.
- PALS (for Emergency Departments, Pre-op / Operating Room / PACU).
- NRP (for Newborn Nursery / Mother-Baby Care / NICU, Family Birthing Center).
- Fetal Monitoring (for Family Birthing Center).
- Oncology Chemotherapy certification.
