About The Position

The Charge Entry Specialist at OrthoArkansas plays an important role in supporting accurate and timely billing by reviewing and entering office, imaging, and other assigned charges into patient accounts. This position is responsible for ensuring charges are complete and accurate, maintaining charge entry documentation, and identifying front-end claim issues before they impact reimbursement. The Charge Entry Specialist works closely with providers and coding staff to support efficient Revenue Cycle operations while maintaining established accuracy and turnaround expectations.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED required.
7 to 11 months of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Knowledge of orthopedic procedures, diagnoses, and procedure codes required.
Strong attention to detail with the ability to maintain a high level of accuracy when entering charges and reviewing documentation.
Ability to work efficiently while meeting established productivity and turnaround expectations.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage charge entry documentation and tracking tools for multiple providers.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to interact professionally and diplomatically with physicians, hospitals, insurance companies, and coworkers.
Strong computer and data-entry skills.
Ability to identify and resolve routine charge entry and front-end claim issues.
Ability to maintain HIPAA confidentiality at all times.

Responsibilities

Enter all clinic charges for assigned providers accurately and timely.
Enter MRI charges from all applicable OrthoArkansas locations.
Enter CT charges from the Midtown location.
Review charges for completeness and accuracy before submission.
Complete Day End Reviews for all charges entered.
Maintain a 95% accuracy rate with a three-day turnaround time when required documentation is available.
Provide physicians with documentation of charges entered on their behalf each day.
Assist coding staff as needed by creating new patient charts, obtaining medical records from outside facilities, and scanning documentation.
Apply knowledge of orthopedic procedures, diagnoses, procedure codes, and medical terminology when reviewing and entering charges.
Communicate professionally and diplomatically with physicians, hospitals, insurance companies, and coworkers.
Maintain the Charge Entry ticket folder to ensure documentation is organized and readily available.
Maintain the Charge Entry spreadsheet for assigned providers.
Ensure charge entry records are complete, accurate, and updated timely.
Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements at all times.
Review and work front-end denials associated with claims created through the charge entry process.
Research charge entry issues and make appropriate corrections when needed.
Identify missing or inaccurate information that could delay claim processing or reimbursement.
Collaborate with coding and other Revenue Cycle team members to resolve charge-related issues.
Perform other related duties as required or assigned to support Revenue Cycle operations.
