About The Position

This chaplain will assist Dr. Phillips Hospital and support two free standings in the area and be available for call outs, weekends, and given at least one day a week to work and take on more hours as needed. The Chaplain provides spiritual and emotional care for patients, their loved ones and team members on assigned unit(s). This role requires direct access to Protected Health Information (PHI) for patient treatment and healthcare operations purposes through direct contact with patients, family members, patients’ medical records/charts, computer applications, and verbal reports from healthcare providers, and interaction with various hospital interdisciplinary team members. The Chaplain documents interventions on the patient chart, including referral source, spiritual assessments, interventions, and follow-up/referral plan. They serve as a member of the interdisciplinary clinical team, participating in patient rounds, case reviews, ethics consultations, and advanced directive consults. The Chaplain provides crisis intervention and bereavement support for persons experiencing suffering, tragedy, or loss. They perform requested sacramental services, applicable chapel services, and/or arrange for the provision of these services by community clergy. The role requires reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, and compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.

Requirements

  • Master level theological degree is required, with a Master of Divinity being the preferred degree. Master level equivalent theological degrees may be considered.
  • Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for pool. All units must be recognized by ACPE, APC, NACC, NAJC, CPSP, CPE-I, or ICPT.
  • Ordination, licensure, or commissioning and endorsement as a chaplain by a religious body listed in the US Defense Department list of Recognized Religions
  • Active spiritual faith demonstrated.

  • Accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools preferred or a listing in The Database of Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (ope.ed.gov/dapip/)
  • two (2) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for part-time
  • one (1) unit of Clinical Pastoral Education for pool.
