About The Position
The Chaplain supports the emotional and spiritual needs of patients, families, and staff to promote healing and wellness. The role provides spiritual care in a pediatric rehabilitation and complex-care hospital, including assessing spiritual needs, offering responsive support, and documenting services provided. The position is scheduled Thursday, Friday, and Saturday from 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. It is identified as part time in the title, although the job details also list the position type as full time.
Requirements
- Associate’s degree preferred, or an equivalent combination of education, training, certification, or relevant experience required.
- Minimum of 1–2 years of chaplaincy or pastoral ministry experience.
- Endorsement or standing in good faith with a recognized faith group.
- Demonstrated ability to provide spiritual care in fast-paced, short-duration encounters.
Nice To Haves
- Degree in theology, ministry, pastoral care, or a related field.
- Healthcare or outpatient experience.
Responsibilities
- Round on staff to provide emotional and spiritual support.
- Assess patients’, families’, and team members’ spiritual needs; help them use their faith in coping with illness, trauma, stress, and loss; and document services provided.
- Provide compassionate and responsive spiritual services aligned with departmental and organizational objectives, including visitation, reading, listening, and prayer support.
- Support team members with their resiliency and compassion development.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
