About The Position

Provides spiritual and emotional care for patients, their loved ones, and team members on assigned unit(s). Requires direct access to Protected Health Information (PHI) for patient treatment and healthcare operations. Documents interventions on the patient chart, including spiritual assessments, interventions, and follow-up plans. Serves as a member of the interdisciplinary clinical team, participating in patient rounds, case reviews, ethics consultations, and advanced directive consults. Provides crisis intervention and bereavement support. Performs requested sacramental services and chapel services, or arranges for them. Maintains regular attendance and compliance with Orlando Health policies. Provides education programs, inspiration, and support to promote the relationship between spirituality and health. Provides devotions and/or invocations for Orlando Health functions as requested.

Requirements

  • Master level theological degree is required.
  • Four (4) units of Clinical Pastoral Education for full time, two (2) units for part-time, one (1) unit for pool.
  • All units must be recognized by ACPE, APC, NACC, NAJC, CPSP, CPE-I, or ICPT.
  • Active spiritual faith demonstrated.
  • Ordination, licensure, or commissioning and endorsement as a chaplain by a religious body listed in the US Defense Department list of Recognized Religions.

Nice To Haves

  • Master of Divinity being the preferred degree.
  • Accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools preferred or a listing in The Database of Postsecondary Institutions and Programs (ope.ed.gov/dapip/).
