About The Position

Eventide's Hospice in Lincoln, NE is seeking a Chaplain /Spiritual Care Coordinator to work 24-32 hours. This schedule includes a weekend and holiday rotation. The Spiritual Care Coordinator is responsible for the provision of spiritual care services to Seniors/residents/clients and families/caregivers of Eventide Hospice, either directly or through coordination of care with other spiritual counselors. While doing so, they will contribute to the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being of Seniors/clients through respectful, professional, competent and personable interaction. The chaplain embraces all components of the job, fostering an environment that allows Eventide to provide optimum care clients.

Requirements

• CPR required or must obtain within 30 days of employment.
• Valid Nebraska Driver’s license (unless otherwise allowed by law) and a good driving record required.
• Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand the English language including terminology related to the job.
• Ability to drive vehicle from place to place, gain access to each Senior/client home and then safely perform the duties of the job.
• Vision and hearing within normal limits (with or without correction).
• Must have unrestricted lift/push/pull ability of 25 - pounds, demonstrating strength and agility at Eventide’s discretion.
• At least age 18.

Nice To Haves

• Graduate of accredited seminary or school of theology (BD, MDiv or equivalent theological degree) preferred.
• Hospice experience preferred.
• Experience working with death and dying, individuals/family/caregiver preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assures spiritual assessment of Seniors/clients and families/caregivers in the hospice program and appropriate services are rendered in a timely manner.
• Facilitates the development of the individualized plan of care by participating in the comprehensive assessment to meet identified spiritual needs.
• Provides direct spiritual care to Seniors/clients and families/caregivers.
• Serves as liaison and support to community chaplains and spiritual counselors.
• Maintains records of spiritual care services utilization and related activities for quality assurance, program development, and policies and procedures review and revision.
• Provides consultation, education, and support to the interdisciplinary group on spiritual care.
• Provides for funeral or memorial services for Seniors/clients as requested.
• Plans periodic memorial services to meet the needs of personnel, volunteers, and community clergy/spiritual counselors working with the hospice team.
• Drives from one Senior/client to another, adapting to changing road and/or weather conditions.
