About The Position

The Chaplain I position for Spiritual Care provides direct spiritual care for patients, family members, and, as needed, CHOC caregivers. Demonstrates a spiritual presence to all persons that is compassionate, accepting, respectful, and sensitive. Works in situations appropriate to their essential job functions and scope of practice as a member of the healthcare team and with other healthcare professionals in augmenting the work of the Spiritual Care Department.

Requirements

  • Minimum two (2) years of pastoral care experience.
  • Master's degree in Theology/Divinity/Spiritual Care and ecclesiastical endorsement.
  • Two units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE).
  • Membership in the Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or National Association of Professional Chaplains (APC) or National Association of Catholic Chaplains (NACC).
  • Ability for systematic and collaborative thinking.
  • Proficient with computer skills: able to use word processing, email and computer-based charting.
  • Ability to facilitate groups and interactions between staff members and be supportive of co-workers in other departments.
  • Effective verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Good time management skills and ability to work under pressure in rapidly changing work environment, while dealing with multiple concurrent priorities.
  • Sedentary - Very light energy level Lift 10 lbs. box overhead. Lift and carry 15 lbs. Push/pull 20 lbs. cart.

Nice To Haves
