About The Position

In this highly visible, fast-paced, and challenging position, you'll collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide the very best care for our patients. The Chaplain is to provide spiritual care to patients, families, and staff throughout the hospital.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Masters of Theology or Equivalent, or in the process of obtaining a Master’s Degree.
  • Minimum of 4 completed units of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE; ACPE preferred)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and with minimal supervision
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks/responsibilities simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the ministry of the department by spiritual care and emotional support to patients and families through regular rounding in clinical areas, crisis response, and responding to all hospital codes.
  • Participates in the ministry of the department by facilitating, documenting, and coordinating decedent care in collaboration with multiple hospital units.
  • Provides grief support and counseling as appropriate to deceased’s family and friends.
  • Assists in locating and contacting next of kin for patients arriving in ED via ambulance.
  • Provide staff support through regular rounding, organized support programs, and debriefings.
  • Collaborates with local religious leaders, chaplain volunteers, visiting clergy, and spiritual caregivers.
  • Participates in ongoing educational and professional development initiatives such as collaborating with Clinical Pastoral Education Students and chaplain fellows' board certification cohort.
  • Participates in other pastoral and administrative duties as assigned under the direction of the clinical manager.
  • Other duties as assigned.
