About The Position

The Chaplain Fellow is to provide pastoral care to patients, families and staff in an assigned clinical area and throughout the hospital. This is a highly visible, fast-paced, and challenging position where you will collaborate with multidisciplinary team members to provide the very best care for our patients.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree, Masters of Theology or Equivalent, or in the process of obtaining a Master’s Degree
  • Minimum of 4 completed units of Clinical Pastoral Education (ACPE preferred)
  • Ability to work with minimal supervision and manage multiple priorities simultaneously
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills

Responsibilities

  • Participates in the ministry of the department by providing spiritual care and emotional support to patients and families through regular rounding, clinical assignments and responding to all hospital codes.
  • Provides grief support and counseling as appropriate to deceased’s family and friends.
  • Participates in the ministry of the department by facilitating, documenting and coordinating decedent care in collaboration with multiple hospital units.
  • Provide staff support through regular rounding, organized support programs, and critical incident debriefings.
  • Coordinates and facilitates release and transport of deceased bodies to appropriate agency.
  • Assists in locating and contacting next of kin for patients arriving in ED via ambulance.
  • Collaborates with local religious leaders, visiting clergy, chaplain volunteers, and spiritual caregivers.
  • Participates in other pastoral and administrative duties as assigned under the direction of the clinical manager.
