Under the direction of an ACPE certified chaplain educator, this role assists with direct ministry to patients, their families, and caregivers through spiritual assessment and support, and spiritual and sacramental care. The chaplain resident is also responsible for initiating and implementing new methods of addressing patients' and family members' emotional and spiritual needs and for collaborating with other members of the health care team to communicate and coordinate care. The chaplain resident also participates fully in the Clinical Pastoral Education curricular activities.
