About The Position

The Changeover/Set-Up Laborer is responsible for assisting with the preparation and conversion of the arena for a variety of events, including concerts, sporting events, and special functions. This role plays a critical part in ensuring the facility is set up safely, efficiently, and according to event specifications. The position requires working as part of a team in a fast-paced, hands-on environment, often during overnight hours, weekends, and holidays. This is a part-time, event-based position scheduled based on the arena’s event calendar.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Ability to use hand and small power tools when required both safely and effectively
  • Ability to listen and follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Ability to read and understand room set-up floor plans to complete tasks effectively
  • Present a neat and groomed appearance and demeanor at all times during the workday
  • Ability to work a flexible schedule which includes nights, weekends, mid-shifts, early mornings and holidays, as needed
  • Must have professional attitude and appearance

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous experience with similar functions desirable
  • Licensed and Qualified forklift/platform lift operations desirable
  • Experience working in event venues, arenas, or guest services is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in event setup and breakdown, including placement and removal of chairs, tables, risers, stages, stanchions, podiums, and other equipment
  • Build and dismantle concert stages and assist with arena conversions
  • Install and remove hockey dashers, glass, and related equipment
  • Set up and break down various sporting equipment as needed
  • Assist with ice installation and maintenance for events
  • Read and interpret event floor plans to ensure accurate and efficient setups
  • Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and platform lifts (if certified)
  • Safely use hand tools and small power tools as required
  • Maintain a safe work environment at all times and report any accidents, damages, or safety concerns immediately
  • Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members, including use of radios when needed
  • Assist with general facility upkeep during and after events
