About The Position

LS Technologies, a Tetra Tech company, is seeking a highly skilled Change Management Engineer to support the planning, coordination, implementation, and governance of cloud infrastructure and application changes within the FAA enterprise environment. This position serves as a technical change management specialist responsible for ensuring cloud changes are properly engineered, documented, tested, authorized, implemented, and validated while minimizing operational risk to mission-critical FAA systems.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related technical discipline, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of experience in systems engineering, cloud engineering, DevOps, IT operations, configuration management, or change management.
  • Demonstrated experience managing technology changes within complex enterprise environments.
  • Strong understanding of cloud infrastructure and cloud service delivery models.
  • Experience with AWS cloud environments and enterprise cloud operations.
  • Experience developing implementation plans, test plans, validation procedures, and rollback plans.
  • Experience with configuration management and enterprise change management processes.
  • Ability to analyze technical changes and identify dependencies, risks, and potential operational impacts.
  • Strong technical writing, documentation, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with engineers, developers, cybersecurity professionals, operations personnel, and government stakeholders.
  • Must have ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Infrastructure as Code changes, including Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies.
  • Experience with DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Familiarity with IT service management and configuration management systems.
  • Knowledge of AWS services such as AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, IAM, CloudTrail, Config.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute cloud infrastructure and application changes across development, test, staging, and production environments.
  • Manage the end-to-end change lifecycle, including change identification, impact assessment, technical review, approval, implementation, validation, and closure.
  • Develop and maintain standardized Cloud Change Management processes, procedures, templates, workflows, and technical documentation.
  • Evaluate proposed changes for technical dependencies, operational impacts, security implications, resource requirements, and potential mission impact.
  • Coordinate changes across Cloud Engineering, DevOps, Cybersecurity, Network Engineering, Application Development, Operations, and FAA program stakeholders.
  • Support Change Configuration Board (CCB) activities by preparing technical change packages, risk assessments, implementation plans, test results, rollback plans, and supporting documentation.
  • Ensure changes comply with FAA policies, enterprise architecture standards, cybersecurity requirements, configuration management processes, and applicable Federal regulations.
  • Develop detailed implementation, validation, and back-out/rollback plans for complex cloud changes.
  • Establish and maintain change windows and coordinate implementation activities to minimize disruption to mission-critical systems.
  • Monitor and validate changes after implementation to ensure systems, applications, security controls, and integrations remain operational.
  • Support root-cause analysis for unsuccessful or emergency changes and identify corrective and preventive actions.
  • Track change-related incidents, failed changes, emergency changes, and recurring changes to identify trends and opportunities for process improvement.
  • Coordinate emergency and expedited changes while ensuring appropriate technical approvals, documentation, risk assessment, and post-implementation review.
  • Maintain accurate configuration and change records within enterprise IT service management and configuration management systems.
  • Support Configuration Management Database (CMDB) activities by ensuring cloud infrastructure components and configuration relationships are accurately represented.
  • Work with engineering teams to establish standard, repeatable, and automated changes that reduce manual intervention and operational risk.
  • Integrate change management practices into DevSecOps and CI/CD pipelines, ensuring infrastructure and application changes are appropriately governed without unnecessarily slowing development.
  • Review Infrastructure as Code changes, including Terraform, CloudFormation, Ansible, or similar technologies, to assess implementation impact and change risk.
  • Establish automated controls and approval gates for infrastructure deployments and production changes.
  • Support version control and peer-review processes for cloud configuration and Infrastructure as Code repositories.
  • Coordinate cloud changes involving AWS services, networking, identity and access management, security services, compute, storage, databases, containers, monitoring, and logging.
  • Ensure cloud changes account for required cybersecurity controls, vulnerability remediation, security hardening, logging, monitoring, and compliance requirements.
  • Support security-related changes involving services such as AWS Security Hub, GuardDuty, IAM, CloudTrail, Config, and other enterprise security capabilities.
  • Coordinate changes associated with cloud platform upgrades, operating system updates, security patches, application releases, infrastructure modernization, and technology migrations.
  • Develop dashboards, metrics, and reports to measure change success rates, failed changes, emergency changes, change volume, implementation performance, and compliance.
  • Identify opportunities to automate repetitive change management activities using scripting, APIs, Infrastructure as Code, and DevOps tooling.
  • Participate in technical design reviews and architecture discussions to ensure change management requirements are incorporated early in the engineering lifecycle.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and development teams regarding cloud change management, deployment practices, documentation, and operational readiness.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives designed to increase deployment velocity, reliability, security, and operational stability.
  • Assist with audits and assessments by providing evidence of change approvals, testing, implementation, validation, configuration management, and compliance.
  • Support FAA mission systems by ensuring cloud changes are executed in a controlled, predictable, secure, and repeatable manner.
