About The Position

The North Tahoe Community Alliance (NTCA) collaborates with regional stakeholders to support a vibrant, year-round economy that benefits residents, businesses, and visitors of North Lake Tahoe. The organization also advocates for and funds local transportation and workforce housing solutions, visitor services, and promotes responsible and off-peak season travel with a focus on stewardship education. The North Tahoe Chamber, whose purpose is to cultivate collaborative partnerships, serve as an engaging catalyst, and drive economic impact, has supported a vibrant business community and enhanced the quality of life for North Lake Tahoe residents and visitors since 1954. The Chamber’s priorities, include economic development, advocacy, business services, community vitality, visitor engagement, and workforce development to benefit local businesses and their employees. The Chamber Specialist provides essential engagement support to drive member satisfaction and retention. This role coordinates membership activities, responds to member inquiries, and supports the execution of member-focused programs and events.

Requirements

  • 3 - 5+ years planning and executing events.
  • 3 - 5+ administrative experience, prefer previous work with a chamber of commerce, business association, non-profit, or community organization.
  • Demonstrated competence in project management, organizational design, event timelines, and strategic stakeholder relationships.
  • Deep experience working within a team to create best-in-class programs in business and community relations.
  • Stay update on all platforms such as Growthzone and submittaable by taking the most current trainings.
  • A degree in a related field or relevant experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in the travel industry, tourism field, or a resort destination, with knowledge of North Lake Tahoe.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all member communications, including emails, event invitations, the GrowthZone event calendar, and Info Hub updates.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to member inquiries, ensuring a high level of service and engagement.
  • Proactively engage with members through in-person business visits, promoting upcoming events and opportunities.
  • Partner with the Chamber team to meet with new members, providing a comprehensive orientation to Chamber benefits and resources.
  • Conduct annual review of communications to audit links on website and content to ensure alignment with brand standards and established SOPs.
  • Maintain accurate membership records and databases, updating member information and tracking engagement metrics in Growth Zone.
  • Support membership renewal processes, assisting with reminders, follow-ups, documentation, and partnering with accounting to manage payments.
  • Support the onboarding of new members by providing orientation materials and responding to initial inquiries.
  • Coordinate logistics for Mixers, Power Lunches, and Coffee Connects, currently there are 22 events to ensure smooth execution and positive member experiences.
  • Work with mixer co-hosts to see their business or organization is promoted.
  • Oversee all aspects of registration: setting up invitations, monitoring attendance, and checking in members at events.
  • Bring all NT chamber promotional materials to events and set up and solicit raffle prizes.
  • Help support efforts of the KB District including event and economic development working group administrative and support.
  • Create email templates, applications, and forms in Submittable for the NT Chamber Event sponsorship program, as well as Submittable reports for event scoring for Chamber advisory members and event agreements.
  • Communicate with event producers through Submittable, to ensure funding criteria are met and forms are completed.
  • Set up and oversee technology for the Chamber Advisory Committee, coordinate food and drinks, and take accurate minutes.
  • Partner with the Chamber team to continually improve and innovate business programs and community processes, using people metrics and business survey data.
  • Develop strategic partnerships and trusted relationships with event producers, business owners, and community leaders.
  • Engage visitors and residents at events to promote the TBID, destination stewardship, and genuine care of North Lake Tahoe.
  • Embrace our organization's long-term objectives, recognize our current strengths and challenges, and ensure your actions align with the strategic direction of NTCA and the NT Chamber.
  • Manage, create and recommend projects and programs in support of the chamber and collaboration with the business associations. Taking the lead on such projects and programs, working with a diverse set of stakeholders achieving the agreed upon outcomes.
  • Work seamlessly with other departments, fostering a positive work environment, and cultivate strong relationships with event producers, business leaders, and community partners, contributing to cross-functional initiatives.
  • Take ownership of your actions and responsibilities, prioritizing personal accountability over blaming others for not fulfilling their role.
  • Acknowledge and navigate complexities in difficult situations, demonstrating flexibility and adjusting your approach to effectively connect with people.
