Candidates must be proficient on a string instrument, well enough to participate in the group and/or demonstrate to the student players. It is important to have a knowledge of what makes an ensemble sound good. This includes the ability to work on and “teach” rhythm, pitch, phrasing, dynamics, and social cohesiveness. An outgoing and encouraging personality is a plus. A possible performance with the group on the Saturday, June 20 chamber recital is included. Repertoire will be chosen by the faculty and assignments will be made to include several mentoring sessions by members of the camp string faculty. Anticipate two hours of coaching each day (Monday – Friday) and Saturday morning dress rehearsal, chamber group recitals, and Grand Finale Concert.
