About The Position

The Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (MAE) seeks applicants for the position of chairperson of the department, beginning July 1, 2027. The chairperson serves as the administrative, fiscal, and curricular leader of the department. The role involves budgeting, staffing, scheduling, and supervising; overseeing facilities; mentoring faculty; working with various constituents including staff, current and prospective students, and alumni; and engaging in alumni outreach. The chairperson will interact with the Dean of the School of Engineering (SOE) and other department chairs on unit-level activities. They will lead efforts to enhance the reputation of undergraduate and graduate programs, foster vibrant, funded research programs supported by students, and oversee curriculum and accreditation processes. The position also includes supporting a vision for the department’s future direction, as well as teaching and research activities as appropriate. Requirements

  • Doctorate in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering.
  • Achieved to the rank of Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering.
  • Articulated commitment to inclusive excellence.
  • Effective written communication skills.
  • Sustained record of effective teaching and mentorship to create an inclusive learning environment incorporating characteristics of a Marianist education.
  • Sustained record of obtaining external funding, leading sponsored research, and dissemination of peer-reviewed research.
  • Sustained record of service to the department, SOE, and UD community.
