About The Position

The Department of Mathematics invites applications for the position of Chair, with an anticipated starting date of August 1, 2027. As chief academic and administrative officer of the unit the Chair provides leadership for all faculty and staff and holds responsibility for all undergraduate and graduate programs in Mathematics. Candidates should have an outstanding record in scholarship and teaching, and an accomplished record of effective leadership.

Requirements

Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.
An academic record allowing appointment as a Full Professor with tenure.
An established research program.
Ability to access critical organizational infrastructure.
Ability to maintain the security and integrity of infrastructure related to the role.
A minimum of two professional references.
A letter of interest outlining qualifications and vision for leadership.
A statement of teaching philosophy.
A research statement.

Nice To Haves

Record of external funding.
Administrative experience.
Distinguished record of teaching.
Demonstrated ability to work with faculty and administrators across the university.
Experience with HSI/MSIs.
Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba language proficiency.
