About The Position

The Department of Mathematics at the University of North Texas invites applications for the position of Chair, with an anticipated starting date of August 1, 2027. As the chief academic and administrative officer of the unit, the Chair will provide leadership for all faculty and staff and hold responsibility for all undergraduate and graduate programs in Mathematics. Candidates should possess an outstanding record in scholarship and teaching, and an accomplished record of effective leadership. The department has 23 tenure system faculty, 20 professional faculty, 50-60 graduate students, and about 150 majors. Graduate degree offerings include a Ph.D. in Mathematics and M.S. degrees, as well as Math Education options. Undergraduate offerings include B.A. and B.S. degrees in Mathematics, with or without teacher certification.

Requirements

• Ph.D. in Mathematics or Applied Mathematics.
• Academic record allowing appointment as a Full Professor with tenure.
• Established research program.
• Ability to access critical organizational infrastructure and maintain its security and integrity.

• Experience with HSI/MSIs.
