About The Position

This course introduces the principles of biochemical thermodynamics and metabolic pathways. Topics include: bioenergetics, introduction to metabolic pathways, catabolic pathways (glycolysis, citric acid cycle, lipid and amino acid oxidation), oxidative phosphorylation and photosynthesis, experimental techniques in biochemistry.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline.
  • PhD in Chemistry, Biochemistry or Cognate Discipline OR a Master’s Degree plus PhD in progress in these disciplines along with a Laurier University Teaching Certificate (or equivalent recognized teaching credential) and experience in the posted or substantially similar course OR an Masters Degree plus M.Ed. and experience in the posted or substantially similar course.
  • CV (required for all applicants).

Responsibilities

  • Teach CH350(C): Biochemistry I: Bioenergetics and Catabolic Pathways during the Spring 2027 term (May 1 – August 31).
  • Deliver lectures for the course.
  • Potentially perform marking and grading, and coordination of large classes or multi-section courses as per the collective agreement.
