About The Position

The CGL Utility Operator supports BRS goals and objectives at the Continuous Galvanizing Line by carrying out applicable policies, procedures, and activities on assigned crews. The role helps maintain safe, high-quality, and environmentally compliant operations, supports line uptime, and assists teammates with daily operations and development.

The work takes place in steel mill production areas that may have extreme temperatures, high noise levels, and dusty or greasy conditions. The job is physically demanding and routinely involves lifting and moving heavy objects. Work is performed in rotating 12-hour day and night shifts, including some weekends and holidays, with overtime as needed. This position does not supervise others.

Requirements

• Be quality-, detail-, and safety-oriented, mechanically inclined, and self-motivated.
• Have good insight into team dynamics, strong verbal communication skills, and computer literacy.
• Be able to work without direct supervision.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Have a basic understanding of steel mill processes.
• Be able to routinely lift and move heavy objects during a shift.

Nice To Haves

• College degree.
• Galvanizing experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety, environmental, and quality requirements and, where applicable, ResponsibleSteel requirements.
• Maintain good housekeeping in job areas and on the grounds.
• Communicate effectively with CGL Operations and other departments to support line-up time, process control, and improvements.
• Assist with daily line operations and perform offline tasks to help keep the line continuously operational and support uptime.
• Assist team members with daily operations and help develop teammates while ensuring crew safety.
