About The Position

The BAF Utility Operator supports BRS goals and objectives for the Cold Mill and Batch Anneal Furnace while working on assigned crews. The role carries out applicable policies, procedures, and activities related to the position, while supporting safe, quality-focused steel mill operations.

Requirements

• Be quality-, detail-, and safety-oriented.
• Be mechanically inclined and self-motivated.
• Have good insight into team dynamics and strong verbal communication skills.
• Be computer literate.
• Be able to work without direct supervision.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Be able to routinely lift and move heavy objects during a shift.

Nice To Haves

• A college degree.
• A strong understanding of steel mill operations.
• Batch Anneal Furnace experience.

Responsibilities

• Follow safety, environmental, quality, and, where applicable, ResponsibleSteel requirements.
• Maintain good housekeeping in job areas and surrounding grounds.
• Communicate effectively with Cold Mill Operations to support line-up time, process control, and improvements.
• Conduct proper crane and equipment inspections.
• Set up annealing processes and operate Batch Annealing equipment.
• Assist team members with daily operations as needed.
• Help develop teammates while ensuring crew safety.
