About The Position

The Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) is responsible for quality assurance on behalf of Bureau Veritas's client, in addition to on-site inspections during the construction phase. The ideal candidate must have demonstrable experience in a similar position. This role requires the ability to work remotely, on-site, and/or from established Bureau Veritas offices/work sites. A client-oriented approach with an emphasis on understanding and fulfilling client needs is essential. The position demands a detail-oriented individual with a dedication to the quality control and quality assurance process, capable of understanding and reading complex design and fabrication plans and specifications. Excellent communication and documentation skills are required to convey technical issues to project managers, clients, BV employees, and fabrication facilities. Proficiency with desktop computers/laptops/tablets and Microsoft Office Applications (Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel, MS Calendar) is necessary, along with knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and other word processing/document control software. The ability to multi-task and execute multiple simultaneous assignments efficiently and with high quality is crucial. The role requires a team player willing to collaborate with clients, field staff, other Bureau Veritas offices, and the global Bureau Veritas organization. The inspector must be able to identify situations where additional PPE is required and use a camera (smartphone) to insert photos into client reports.

Requirements

  • Demonstrable experience in a similar position.
  • Reliable High Speed Internet connection.
  • Valid Driver’s license, and a clean driving record.
  • Ability to successfully pass a background check and drug screen.
  • Fiscal ability to pay travel expenses for 1-2 weeks in advance (lodging, meals, flights, rental cars, parking, tolls, public transportation, etc.).
  • Proficiency with Desktop Computers/Laptops/Tablets and Microsoft Office Applications (including, but not limited to: Outlook, MS Teams, Word, Excel, and MS Calendar) required; along with knowledge of Adobe Acrobat and other word processing/document control software as needed.
  • Ability to multi-task and properly execute multiple simultaneous assignments without sacrificing efficiency or quality of the work.
  • Use of PPE: Ability to identify situations where additional PPE (outside of standard issue) is required.
  • Current/active American Welding Society - Certified Welding Inspector or Senior Certified Welding Inspector (Required)

Nice To Haves

  • Non-Destructive Testing Level II or III (Preferred)
  • NACE/AMPP Level II (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Communicating with Project Managers to determine specific requirements of a given work order, including scope of work, deliverables, schedule, and budget.
  • Communicating with Project Managers, fabrication shops, contractors, BV employees, and other third parties to resolve issues.
  • Ensuring that services provided are performed in accordance with project requirements and client contracts.
  • Communicating information from the fabrication facility regarding upcoming assignments and potential work for Bureau Veritas.
  • Maintaining a positive relationship between Bureau Veritas, the fabrication facility, and the client.
  • Generating, processing, and/or responding to timesheets, billing reports, expense reports, emails, instant messages, and inspection reports expeditiously and thoroughly, complying with all applicable deadlines.
  • Submitting all reports typewritten using Microsoft Word/Adobe Acrobat and electronically transmitting them to the Project Manager.
  • Identifying situations where additional PPE (outside of standard issue) is required.
  • Using a camera (smartphone) and inserting photos into a document for client reports.
