About The Position

CTL Engineering is seeking a Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) to join their Construction Quality Assurance division. This role is crucial for ensuring quality in welding inspection and construction operations. The company is an award-winning, full-service consulting engineering firm with a long history and multiple locations. Requirements

  • Three years of experience with an Applied Science or Technical Degree in steel inspection or quality control inspection testing, OR five years of experience with no degree in steel inspection or quality control inspection testing.
  • Required Certification: American Welding Society (AWS) Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) or ability to obtain within 1 year.
  • Demonstrated ability to read and apply contract drawings, specifications, and building code reviews.
  • Ability to prepare reports summarizing observations and findings associated with the work performed.
  • Must possess the physical strength and agility to get to areas on steel structure work environment to complete required inspection duties.
  • Must have strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a team environment as well as independently.
  • Demonstrate team-oriented approach to problem-solving.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for contact with clients, contractors, and fellow Team members (Engineers/Technicians).
  • Possesses the ability to be accurate, dependable, and display strong organizational skills.
  • Possesses good time management skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments at any given time.
  • Must be able to lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must possess an acceptable driving record.
  • Willing to travel to and conduct field work at job sites in Ohio.

Nice To Haves

  • ICC certification in the Structural Steel Welding or Bolting
  • American Society for Nondestructive Testing (ASNT) Level II certification UT, MT, PT

Responsibilities

  • Perform services on building construction sites, bridges, and fabrication shops.
  • Conduct steel testing in the Materials Laboratory, including welder performance and procedure qualifications, high strength bolts and anchor rods, and load testing of assemblies.
  • Work on construction sites, including elevated platforms, manlifts, scaffolds, and swing stages, while performing inspection activities.
  • Perform job duties in the field and office, during non-standard work hours, as necessary.
