About The Position

West Fraser's Chetwynd Forest Industries division is recruiting for a Certified Welder to join their team. This role involves maintaining a safe work environment, ensuring the consistent operation of equipment, and performing maintenance on various mechanical systems within the manufacturing process. The position also includes undertaking a preventative maintenance program, reading technical diagrams to repair equipment, operating lifting devices, repairing hydraulic equipment, and documenting completed repairs.

Requirements

Valid Journeyperson Welding Certification
3+ Years of experience in an industrial / manufacturing environment
Ability to work independently without constant supervision
Organizational and planning skills to prioritize daily / weekly tasks
The knowledge and skills to recognize opportunities for improvements and savings

Responsibilities

Maintaining a safe work environment
Ensuring consistent operations of equipment
Maintenance of pumps, conveyors, compressors, mechanical systems, rollers & chains, bearings and hydraulics involved in the manufacturing process
Undertake a preventative maintenance program for equipment
Read blueprints, diagrams and schematic drawings to repair equipment
Operate hoisting and lifting devices to position machinery and parts during the assembly, installation, set-up and repair of equipment and machinery
Repair and assemble hydraulic equipment and cylinders
Verify and document completed repairs
