About The Position

Volo is seeking a part-time Certified Volleyball Referee to join our team. This role involves both league hosting and refereeing responsibilities, ensuring a safe, fun, and fair environment for all participants. The ideal candidate will have a strong knowledge of volleyball rules, excellent communication skills, and a passion for sports and community building. This position requires availability for at least one day per week during league hours (5:30 PM - 10:30 PM) for a minimum of eight weeks.

Requirements

Must be available at least 1 day per week from 5:30 PM - 10:30 PM for at least eight weeks.
Must have strong knowledge of volleyball rules and gameplay.
Prior playing experience required.
Ability to focus strong attention to detail.
Excellent oral communication skills to players, able to project voice across the court or field.
Works well in a team atmosphere.
Ability to lift and carry 50 pounds.
Must be available to work evenings and/or weekends.
High School Diploma / GED Equivalency.

Responsibilities

Update league scores in the host app.
Encourage and maintain a quality experience throughout the league.
Perform league-day preparations, such as court setup and supervision.
Use the host app to check in players as needed.
Execute fundraising activities to support kids programs.
Promote events and upcoming leagues via social media and on-field selling.
Distribute marketing materials.
Ensure players meet and feel welcome.
Ensure a safe, fun, social, and fair environment for all players.
Kindly and fairly enforce each sport’s rules.
Communicate with the office regarding any equipment, rule issues, or player issues.
Officiate Volleyball games by enforcing the Volo rules and regulations.
Make quick and accurate decisions regarding fouls, violations, and points.
Communicate effectively with players, hosts, and other officials.
Monitor game clock and manage timeouts and intervals.
Inspect and set up game equipment and facilities.
Maintain control of the game to ensure player safety and fair competition.
Report any incidents or altercations to the appropriate authorities.
Participate in ongoing training and certification programs.
Multi-task and make decisions under pressure.
Lift and carry 50 pounds.
Communicate clearly with a positive, solution-oriented mindset.
Provide proficient customer service.
