Certified Veterinary Technician
About The Position
The Certified Veterinary Technician is responsible for assisting the veterinarian in providing exceptional veterinary care to every pet that enters the hospital, including patient restraint, diagnostic testing, venipuncture, vaccinations, treatment of various medical conditions, surgery, anesthesia monitoring, dental procedures, client interaction, and other nursing duties as needed. The candidate in this position must deliver compassionate nursing care. They will also perform various office duties, including answering phones, appointment scheduling, updating patient medical records, referral forms, and more.
Requirements
- A valid CVT License in the state of Pennsylvania is required.
- Current Pennsylvania Veterinary Technician Certification or able to transfer current out-of-state Veterinary Technician Certification to State of Pennsylvania strongly preferred
- Must have achieved their high school diploma or equivalent
- Must have experience handling cats and dogs
- Must be able to type and use basic office equipment, such as scanner, copier, fax machine
- Ability to think and act quickly in a fast paced environment
- Competent to communicate effectively with guests and staff
- Must have the physical strength to stand for an entire shift when needed
- Be able to lift pets and objects weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance
- Assist with lifting patients that weigh more than 50 pounds
- Must be able to speak English

- Secondary education preferred in veterinary assistant or veterinary technician program

- Basic office duties as needed
- Check in/Check out processes
