About The Position

Animal Allergy & Dermatology of Colorado, a state-of-the-art dermatology practice in Colorado Springs, CO, is seeking a dedicated and experienced Certified Veterinary Technician to join their dynamic team. In this position, you will be a vital part of the medical process, working closely with Board-Certified Dermatologists and the technical team to manage complex cases, provide enhanced quality of life via treatments, and serve as a communication bridge between the doctor and client. The ideal candidate is energetic, has a positive demeanor, takes initiative, and is committed to the clinic's needs. They should be punctual, willing to teach and share ideas, adaptable to change, able to see the big picture, and professional and caring with patients and clients.

Requirements

  • Previous experience or training/ education in a veterinary facility required
  • Must be friendly, outgoing, “people oriented”
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Must be capable of being cross-trained for front office receptionist duties, telephone and computer skills are necessary
  • Must be a team player willing to learn new techniques, treatments, and accept change
  • College or college-equivalent education as required in becoming a Certified Veterinary Technician
  • Dependable attendance is required
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds
  • Must be willing to work long or irregular hours under pressure conditions
  • The ability to walk, bend, stand, squat, or reach constantly during a minimum 8-hour day

Responsibilities

  • Manage complex cases
  • Provide enhanced quality of life via treatments
  • Serve as a bridge of communication between the doctor and client
  • Demonstrate excellent relations with client/ pets in the waiting area and exam rooms
  • Exceed the client’s expectations of service
  • Provide compassionate nursing care for all patients
  • Perform housekeeping/ maintenance
  • Perform a cursory examination of an animal
  • Recognize potential patient issues
  • Clearly communicate findings to a doctor
  • Record keeping
  • Fill prescriptions and dispense medications as prescribed by the doctor
  • Phlebotomy
  • IV catheter placement
  • Prepare and restrain animals during procedures
  • Anesthetic induction
  • Anesthetic monitoring
  • Assist in surgery
  • Suture cutaneous and subcutaneous tissues
  • Apply bandages and/or splints
  • Wound care
  • Use a stethoscope and otoscope
  • Advise pet owners on proper care
