About The Position

Central Hospital for Animals is a full-service wellness clinic in Carbondale, Illinois. Our experienced and compassionate team specializes in wellness care, dentistry, and routine surgeries for dogs, cats, and exotic pets. Our modern facility is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, enabling us to perform laboratory work on-site. We utilize evidence-based medicine and offer pet owners every resource at our disposal to allow them to make educated decisions post-visit. Central Hospital for Animals hosts a full-service grooming salon where we provide anything from nail clipping to custom brush-outs and styling. Our hours of operation are: Monday - Friday: 7:30 AM - 5:30 PM Saturday: 8:00 AM - 1:00 PM We are closed on Sundays

Requirements

  • A certified veterinary technician with an active license in IL
  • 1+ years experience preferred but not required
  • Proficiency in anesthesia monitoring and surgical assistance is most ideal, but not required.
  • A high work ethic and positive attitude team member.
  • Ability to arrive on-time and ready to work.
  • Some Saturday shift availability.
  • Exceptional customer service skills and ability to communicate precisely.
  • Interpret medical records and record client history accurately.
  • Knowledge in preventative care, surgical procedures, and hospital flow.
  • Ability to restrain pets in a low-stress and safe manner.
  • Proficient in sample collection to include blood samples, urine, fecal, and skin.
  • Ability to properly set-up and process laboratory samples and tests.
  • Proficient in positioning and capturing radiographs, positioning for dental radiographs are a plus
  • A self-starter with the desire to continue to advance one’s knowledge and skillset.
  • Ability to receive in a professional manner constructive feedback to maintain hospital efficiency.
