About The Position

The Premier Veterinary Group in Mundelein, IL is looking for a full time Certified Veterinary Technician to join our Emergency and Critical Care Department! The primary responsibility is to triage and provide care for patients presenting to and hospitalized in our Emergency and Critical Care Department. Requirements

  • General nursing care and treatment of patients
  • Administering and monitoring anesthesia
  • Assisting the veterinarian in procedures
  • Admitting and discharging patients
  • Client communication and education
  • High School education or equivalent
  • Several years’ experience of related job experience
  • Ability to work as a true Team Player and have a positive attitude in all situations
  • Self-Motivator: Ability to work efficiently and effectively, proactive with approach
  • Communicator: Successful communication is essential with all clients and stakeholders, considers and responds appropriately to the needs, feelings and capabilities of different people in different situations
  • Technical Credibility: Understands and appropriately applies procedures, requirements, regulations, and policies related to specialized expertise. Understands linkages between department’s needs and the organization’s needs.

Responsibilities

  • Triaging incoming patients and managing clients throughout their visit
  • Partnering with DVM’s in patient assessment, diagnostics, treatments, and procedures
  • Completing patient daily treatments in a timely manner at key treatment times
  • Assessing hospitalized patients, using intuitive skills as a technician
  • Assisting with flow and organization of Emergency and Critical Care department
  • Obtaining and processing laboratory samples such as blood, urine, free fluid, and fine needle aspirates
  • Utilizing different modalities of imaging for patient assessment
  • Executing, monitoring, and recovering all assigned sedation and anesthetic events
