About The Position

Boughton Animal Clinic in Bolingbrook, Illinois is looking for an experienced Lead Certified Veterinary Technician to join their team. The Lead CVT will be instrumental in elevating patient care, team leadership, and clinic culture. The position involves leading the treatment floor, mentoring teammates, educating clients, and maintaining team motivation. This role goes beyond a typical technician position, focusing on advanced patient care, leadership, training, surgery, client communication, and ensuring the hospital consistently provides exceptional veterinary medicine.

Requirements

  • Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)
  • Graduate of an accredited Veterinary Technician program
  • Active CVT credentials and successful completion of the VTNE
  • Previous veterinary technician experience required
  • Leadership or supervisory experience strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and conflict-resolution skills
  • Ability to multitask and stay organized in a fast-paced environment
  • Passion for mentorship, teamwork, and patient advocacy

  • Experience or interest in surgery, dentistry, anesthesia, rehabilitation, acupuncture, or laser therapy is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting the technician team throughout daily hospital operations
  • Partnering with the Practice Manager to keep the treatment area running efficiently
  • Mentoring and training veterinary technicians and assistants
  • Helping create efficient workflows while fostering a positive team culture
  • Assisting veterinarians with exams, diagnostics, surgery, and treatment plans
  • Monitoring anesthesia and surgical patients
  • Performing blood draws, IV catheter placement, radiographs, laboratory diagnostics, dental procedures, and nursing care
  • Managing hospitalized and critical care patients
  • Educating pet parents so they feel informed and supported throughout their pet's care
  • Assisting with inventory management, treatment protocols, and maintaining medical standards
  • Advocating for both patients and your team every single day
