About The Position

Lowell Road Veterinary Center is a state-of-the-art, multi-doctor veterinary hospital offering personal, progressive, and comprehensive animal care to dogs, cats, and pocket pets in Hudson, New Hampshire. Our hospital provides a wide range of services including annual wellness care, anesthesia and sedation, dentistry, internal medicine, laser therapy, in-house pharmacy, surgery, urgent/immediate care, rehabilitation services, and acupuncture. We are equipped with ultrasound, underwater treadmill therapy, massage therapy, digital radiography, dental x-ray, and a complete in-house laboratory. Applicants should understand that shifts may be covered at our sister hospital in Bedford, New Hampshire. Our hours of operation are Monday - Friday: 7AM - 6PM, Saturday: 7AM - 4PM, and Sunday: 9AM - 3PM.

Requirements

  • A Certified Veterinary Technician with an active license required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Availability to work some weekends
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards
  • Must be able to withstand unpleasant odors and noises
  • May be exposed to bites, scratches, animal waste and potentially contagious diseases

Nice To Haves

  • 1+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • additional skills in dental radiography being a plus

Responsibilities

  • Animal restraint
  • Triage of incoming patients
  • Collection and analysis of lab samples
  • Diagnostic imaging
  • Management and nursing care of medical and hospitalized cases with varying degrees of stability
  • Administration of medications
  • Effective communication of treatment plans with clients
  • Surgical preparation and assistance
  • Anesthetic management
  • Provide support for Urgent Care shifts when needed
