About The Position

Lakeside Spears Animal Hospital is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician for their Urgent Care team. This role is dedicated to providing excellent service with integrity to the Carbondale area, ensuring that pets receive patient and kind treatment during routine visits or urgent care situations. The hospital prides itself on highly-trained veterinarians and technicians who are passionate about high-quality, compassionate care. This position is specific to the Urgent Care team, and weekend hours are a requirement. The hospital's hours of operation are Monday-Friday from 9 AM to 5 PM, with Urgent Care services available Friday, Saturday, and Sunday from 12 PM noon to 12 AM midnight.

Requirements

  • A Certified Veterinary Technician with an active license required
  • 2+ year professional experience preferred but not required
  • Previous experience in ER or Urgent Care settings preferred but not required
  • Consistent punctuality and reliability in adherence to scheduled shifts
  • Excellent client communication and medical record management skills
  • Comprehensive knowledge of veterinary procedures, preventative care, and hospital operations
  • Expertise in safe and low-stress animal restraint techniques
  • Proficiency in various sample collection methods, including blood, urine, fecal, and skin specimens
  • Experience in radiographic positioning and image capture
  • Experience in anesthesia administration and surgical monitoring
  • Commitment to professional ethics and continuous learning
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with exposure to animal-related hazards

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in ER or Urgent Care settings
