Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) - Surgery Focus
About The Position
Destination Pet is seeking a Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT) with a focus on surgery to join Dugan's Veterinary Hospital in Aurora, CO. This role is designed for technicians who want to practice at the top of their license in a community-minded small animal practice that values credentialed technicians as clinical drivers of patient care. The hospital is surgery-heavy and equipped with state-of-the-art medical, surgical, and dental equipment, including an in-house laboratory and ultrasonography. The CVT will serve as a clinical leader, ensuring medical excellence with a patient-first mindset, and will be encouraged to work to the top of their license, following AAHA utilization guidance.
Requirements
- Must hold a valid Colorado CVT state license.
- Experience in anesthesia & analgesia.
- Experience in dentistry procedures.
- Experience in diagnostic procedures.
- Experience in nursing & triage.
- Willingness to work to the top of your license.

- Fear Free certification (training and certification supported).
Responsibilities
- Utilize skills in anesthesia & analgesia, including full IV catheterization, multimodal pain management, induction, and advanced monitoring/recovery.
- Perform dentistry procedures such as full-mouth dental radiography, charting, and periodontal therapy (per DVM direction).
- Conduct diagnostic procedures including high-quality radiography/positioning, in-house lab analysis, and sample collection.
- Provide nursing and triage care, including critical patient monitoring, advanced wound care, and managing catheters/feeding tubes.
- Take on workflow leadership responsibilities such as leading tech appointments, team huddles, and mentoring assistants/externs.
