About The Position

This role involves executing comprehensive sterile techniques, preparing and setting up surgical trays, draping and prepping patients, and assisting with post-operative dressing applications. Responsibilities also include meticulous cleaning and repacking of surgical packs for sterilization, restocking surgical supplies, and maintaining a sanitary and secure environment by participating in the sanitation of clinical areas, operating rooms, and medical equipment. The Certified Surgical Technologist will manage inventory for surgical cases, perform scrub roles during procedures, prepare and uphold sterile fields, anticipate surgeon's needs, handle instruments and supplies, and adhere to sterile processing protocols and infection control guidelines.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Surgical Technology program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), or a formal training program provided by any U.S. Armed Forces branch (Army, Navy, Air Force) for surgical technicians/technologists or operating room technicians.
  • Possession of a Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential from The National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA), or Tech-in-Surgery (TS-C) from the National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), or a Military Occupational Specialty (MOS) certification as a surgical technician and/or operating room technician.
  • A minimum of one year in a surgical technician or operating room technician role within the last two years.
  • At least one year of recent OR scrub experience (within the past year).
  • Proficiency in aseptic techniques and surgical instrumentation.
  • Current AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider certification is mandatory.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure meticulous cleaning and repacking of surgical packs for sterilization post-procedure, alongside the restocking of surgical supplies.
  • Uphold a sanitary and secure environment for patients through active participation in the sanitation of clinical areas, operating rooms, and medical equipment, as well as by directing staff in maintaining environmental standards.
  • Perform inventory management for upcoming surgical cases.
  • Perform scrub roles during surgical procedures.
  • Prepare and uphold sterile fields.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon.
